The workstream brings together leading financial institutions through its Finance and Biodiversity Community.
Finance and Biodiversity Community
The Finance and Biodiversity Community was launched in 2016, with 14 financial institutions. The Community has since then evolved into a group of more than 30 member institutions, including: ABN AMRO, Achmea Investment Management, Actiam, Affirmative IM, Althelia, ASN Bank, AXA Investment Managers, Bank of Ireland, Bankinter, Bloomsbury Natural Capital Ltd., CDC Biodiversité, Conservation Capital, Demeter Partners, EIB, Finance in Motion, FMO, FUND NATURE, Gay-Lussac Gestion, GLS Bank, ING, INOCAP Gestion, Kreab, LHV, Mirova, Ossiam, PensionDanmark, PGGM, PKA A/S, Piraeus Financial Holdings, Planet A, Pymwymic, Rabobank, ,Resona Asset SCOR, UFF and Vert Asset Management.
The Community also includes a series of supporting platforms including: ACCA, Agence Française de Développement, CDSB, Dutch Enterprise Agency, European Banking Federation, NCC, NCFA, VBDO and UNEP FI.
The Finance and Biodiversity Community provides a “forum of dialogue between financial institutions to share experiences, raise awareness and promote best practices at EU level on how to integrate biodiversity and natural capital into mainstream financial activities and foster investments in natural capital”.
In 2020, the Community launched the Finance for Biodiversity Pledge. A growing number of financial institutions calls on global leaders to agree on effective measures and commit to collaborate, engage with companies, assess impact, set targets, and report publicly. Members of the Community welcome new signatories to collaborate on these topics within the Community meetings.
