Read the Fifth edition of the report on the Assessment of Biodiversity Measurement Approaches for Businesses and Financial Institutions.

Based on requests from EU B&B members who were faced with a rapidly evolving landscape of tools, metrics and frameworks offering various approaches to measuring business’s impacts and dependencies on biodiversity, in 2018 the EU B&B Platform began an assessment of available biodiversity measurement approaches. 

Since the first edition of the report, there has been a continuous increase in the number of available approaches, signalling that the market for biodiversity advisory services is innovating and growing. This fifth edition of the report covers 37 approaches, seven more than in the 2022 fourth edition of the report.   

This fifth edition of the report includes two main updates and additions:   

• Update of the Biodiversity Measurement Navigation Wheel  
• Update on the overview of biodiversity and ecosystem services measurement approaches with new case studies and practical applications 

The Biodiversity Measurement Navigation Wheel, already introduced in 2021, offers a pragmatic decision framework to select the most suitable measurement approaches for specific business contexts.
