Description

People are ultimately the drivers behind environmental change. They are the ones who will help our organisations make the changes that are necessary to implement an efficient environmental management system and reduce the environmental impact of an organisation and become more circular as a business and as a society as a whole.
Since its set-up , the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) was born with the objective of being a tool to help companies reduce their environmental impact and gain better acceptance in the territory where they are located by being transparent about their environmental performance and maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders.
One of the key stakeholders in environmental management is staff, those people who know the processes, who are on the ground, and who ultimately have a lot to contribute to making companies more efficient in their use of resources and contribute to the transformation towards more circularity.
Each of these people is also a citizen, they have their own spheres of influence, so business have the potential to contribute to changes beyond the corporate identity of a company.
How to involve staff in environmental management? How the EMAS tools are helping involving staff and top management in reduction of environmental impacts and enhancing material efficiency ? Which best practices exist in involving employees and stakeholders at large in EMAS’s 30 years experience ? How to make people see the importance of their day-to-day behaviour in achieving environmental improvements bot at work and in their daily lives?
