People: your best resource in environmental management. How to involve them?

Ultimately, people are the drivers behind environmental change. They are the ones who will help organisations make the necessary changes to establish an efficient environmental management system and reduce the environmental impact of an organisation as well as to become more circular as a business and in society as a whole. 
Since its set-up, the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) has served its primary purpose as a valuable tool helping companies reduce their environmental impact and gain better acceptance in the territory where they are located by being transparent about their environmental performance and maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders.
One of the key stakeholders in environmental management is staff, as they are the people who know the processes, who are on the ground, and who ultimately have a lot to contribute in making companies more efficient in their use of resources and their transformation towards circularity. 
Each of these people is also a citizen with their own spheres of influence, which means that businesses have the potential to contribute to changes beyond their corporate identity.
